Top places to stay in Amsterdam
When you are travelling somewhere for a weekend, you want to make sure that you stay in the right area that will make it easier for you to commute to all top attractions in the city. In this page, I will share some of the nicest neighbourhoods where you can stay in Amsterdam to get the best of your visit to the city.
All the below mentioned neighborhoods are just 2 – 3 kms away from each other. So you wont go wrong if you pick anyone of these neighborhoods.
Jordaan
De Jordaan is a residential neighbourhood in the west part of Amsterdam and if used to be a Jewish neighbourhood, renowned for its welcoming atmosphere and photogenic townhouses. Though this neighbourhood is located very close to the city center, it is very quiet and showcases a relaxed atmosphere compared to the rest of the city. Thus, it makes De Jordaan a perfect & quiet place for your weekend getaway.
Some of the top attractions that can be easily accessed from De Jordaan are Anne Frank House & Dam Square. Many of the hotels / accommodations in this neighbourhood are renovated canal houses that overlook the beautiful canals of Amsterdam. Some of the famous hotels in this neighbourhood are Mr. Jordaan, The Blossom House Amsterdam & Linden Hotel.

De Pijp
De Pijp is a proud neighbourhood that holds the famous Albert Cuyp Market and some of the top brunch restaurants. This neighbourhood has some of the famous bars and restaurants, which makes it a perfect place to stay during your weekend trip. Apart from the restaurants, De Pijp is situated very close to Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum and Stedelijk museum and can be easily reached via Bike or foot.
Some of the famous hotels in the Neighborhood are Okura, which is a bit of a higher end hotel. While, Amsterdam Hostel Sarphati and Atlantis Hotel Amsterdam are affordable hotels in the area. Oud-West
Oud West is very close to the famous Vondelpark and holds some of the famous streets of Amsterdam such as Kinkerstraat and Clercqstraat. The neighbourhood has its own share of famous restaurants and hangout places such as Foodhallen,OT301 & De Gollem.
Though Oud West is busy during the week, the streets seem to get quieter in the evenings and during the weekend and its cafes and bars are usually less crowded on Friday evenings and Saturday evenings making this neighbourhood a perfect spot for your weekend trip to the city.
Oud west has several famous hotels, like Hotel De Hallen, which is connected closely with the famous FoodHallen & FilmHallen, which features an arthouse cinema. Apart from this, there are other hotels in this Neighborhood.
